Great Rhos

Great Rhos also known as Rhos Fawr stands at 660 m (2,165 ft) and was the highest peak in the historic county of Radnorshire. Located in Mid Wales it is the highest point on the Radnor Forest, a rock dome composed of mudstone and limestone. Offa’s Dyke lies nearby to the east.

The easiest path to the top of Great Rhos can be made from New Randor, following a path leading west to Harley Gorse. From here, the path then heads north. Be careful not to stray too far from the trail as nearby is the Randor ammunitions firing range, signs are placed beside the route.

The summit is a broad, featureless plateau. On the summit is a prominent trig point, a very useful landmark for walkers.
